Inclusion, Equality & Diversity with a focus on Race
This course is designed to support all educational settings with specific challenges around race and inclusion.

inclusion, equality & diversity with a focus on race
This half-day version of our Inclusion, Equality & Diversity course has been developed for educational settings facing specific challenges around Race and Ethnicity. Our actors showcase a variety of different educational scenarios where unconscious bias, assumptions, unintentional comments and banter result in negative experiences and further issues for students.
We explore how to manage situations differently, committing to an inclusive, respectful working and learning environment. We can deliver this course twice per day to provide maximum cost benefits.
why come on the course?
- Are you concerned that ethnicity has an impact on the learning experience your students have?
- Do your team need a better understanding of how micro-aggressions and casual discrimination can occur, often unintentionally, both between students and during staff-student interactions?
- Would you like to move your team forwards beyond basic compliance, promoting a pro-inclusion, actively anti-racist culture in your organisation?
- Would your team benefit from increased confidence to support students to embrace diversity, and embed inclusive values in their teaching?
- Do you want to identify the challenges around race and ethnicity in your organisation and the steps you can take to eliminate these?
If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions, then this course is for your school or college.
What is it?
A highly interactive, educational, lively and fun course using both professional and young amateur actors and our expert Inclusion, Equality and Diversity trainer.
We bring scenarios to life and explore the impact of assumptions, unconscious bias and ‘banter’, looking at what we can do differently to encourage a more inclusive culture among both staff and students.
What will I do on the day?
This interactive session blends live and filmed actor scenarios, discussion, practical activities, and relevant case studies. Don’t worry – there is no role play! We use theatre to show the impact of assumptions, behaviours and communication, delegates will observe and discuss, drawing conclusions on how to move forwards on both an individual and organisational level.

embedding the learning.
We deliver this course using observational, theatre-based learning. Our actors perform a number of scenarios based on real-life case studies and examples from both our focus group who supported the development of this product and schools we have worked with directly.
We use facilitated discussion to understand the impact and give context. This exploratory method supports inductive learning of what is traditionally a more deductive topic, is relatable to all delegates and can be applied immediately.

Learning Outcomes.
By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Recognise the variety of racially-based challenges faced by different ethnicities of students at the school.
- Identify why unintentional comments, actions and behaviours can be discriminatory and detrimental to learner wellbeing.
- Examine the impact of unconscious bias on our own and others’ interactions with all students.
- Evaluate what needs to change, on an individual and organisational level, to ensure a more inclusive, actively anti-racist environment.
Some faq's about Inclusion Equality & Diversity Training.
0.1What is Theatre based learning?
Theatre Based Learning is the technique we use to bring learning to life by using our actors to perform scenarios, based on real case studies.
Theatre Based Learning can be either observational (where learners watch scenes and discuss) OR participative (where we use techniques like real-play and practice, forum where learners interact with the actors and direct them or hot-seating where learners give feedback to individual characters and make suggestions). This course uses our actors to both demonstrate presentation skills and often made mistakes and techniques with the ability for all learners to present and receive feedback
